Introduction to Chen Taiji (Tai Chi)
According to Harvard University Tai chi — a Chinese martial art that incorporates movement and relaxation — is good for both body and mind. In fact, it’s been called “meditation in motion.” Tai chi is made up of a series of graceful movements, one transitioning smoothly into the next. Because the classes are offered at various levels, tai chi is accessible, and valuable, for people of all ages and fitness levels. The intro class at Iron Pagoda Athletic Club will cover foundational movements “silk reeling” and a series of postures taken directly from the 18 Posture Essence Form. Participants should bring a spare pair of clean shoes to use on the matted training floor. Iron Pagoda is a boutique training studio that focuses on traditional arts & innovative fitness. The harmony of our classes create a matrix of training experiences that develop strength, posture, power, endurance and emotional fortitude.
