Our Own Scott Andersen to speak at Sustain Dane’s July Sustainable Breakfast

Tuesday, July 27, 8:30AM—9:30AM

Join us for an inspiring conversation about the path of local leaders and organizations to achieve their carbon goals with carbon neutral operations and net-zero buildings. Hear about the successes and challenges they encountered while working toward their vision. Take away case studies and innovation you can apply to your own carbon neutrality and building energy reduction projects.

Deputy Mayor for the City of Madison Christie Baumel will moderate the conversation. Christie Baumel assists the Mayor with sustainability, planning, and climate resilience, including stormwater management. She brings a wealth of experience in urban sustainability and planning through both local government and non-profit roles.

Andy Weiland from Oregon School District will talk about the first net-zero school in Wisconsin, the Forest Edge Elementary School. A net-zero building creates renewable energy on site that is equal to the total amount of energy used by the building on an annual basis.

Francisco Sayu will share his insight on carbon goals and net-zero buildings from the perspective of his consulting firm Sustainable Community Partners LLC that helps design professionals and building owners meet their sustainability, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and community engagement goals for new buildings and infrastructure projects.

Scott Andersen will share Artisan Dental‘s experience as the first general dentistry practice in the United States whose operations have become carbon neutral. This means all of the carbon or greenhouse gas emissions associated with all aspects of patient care at Artisan Dental are 100% offset through the purchase of verified and validated carbon credits.
