As a B Corporation, we are grateful that we are in a position to help others that are less fortunate or are struggling in the moment. We’re pleased to be among the many supporters of Women for Women International.

They just hit an impressive milestone of helping 500,000 women survivors of war find their inherent strength, resilience and dignity in the face of destruction and violence!

Women for Women International started in one town with a class of 30 women, providing them education, tools, and life-changing skills.  Today, over 500,000 women in more than eight conflict affected regions know how to move from crisis and poverty to stability and economic self-sufficiency.

That’s not all: Through $100 million in direct aid and micro credit loans, the women they serve have financial tools that help more than 1.7 million family members – reshaping entire communities. This investment in women helps them uplift their families, their community, their region, their country—and yes, the world.

500,000 women now have the support, tools, and training to reclaim their dignity and rebuild their lives.

There is a new trend arising in the investment world called impact investing.  Impact investing means you’re investing for reasons beyond traditional financial success, but towards social and environmental successes as well.  In simpler terms impact investing means filtering out investments that are not socially responsible (like tobacco companies, fossil fuel companies, etc) and instead making investments that align with your core values by considering their social and environmental impacts. Chris Walker, the World Business Council For Sustainable Development’s North American director said “A significant majority of employees would like their company to align social and environmental commitments with its retirement investment strategy – yet few fortune 500 companies do.” In fact 85% of millennials surveyed in a 2016 U.S. Trust Study said they consider their investment decisions as a way to express their social, political, and governmental values. Impact investing is not only beneficial for you, but for your employer as well.  When you are connecting with people’s core values you are more likely to attract the best talent, increase employee engagement, and extend employee retention! Encourage your employer to advance their corporate sustainability goals while enabling their employees to save for the future. Impact investing is a win for employers, employees, and the world.

At Artisan Dental we vote every day by doing business with other Certified B Corporations locally and nationally.  By supporting Certified B Corporations we are voting to use business as a force for good.  Most recently we have partnered with the Certified B Corporation Vantreo located in northern California. They have made a commitment to “Protect you. Protect Them” by sharing their profits with kids in need as it relates to literacy, health, safety, and gang prevention – a cause we are happy to support!

Check out these images of the mobile charitable children’s dental bus they are sponsoring!

Did you know that we are 1% for the Planet members? That means that at least 1% of our Artisan Dental Health Plan sales goes to supporting nonprofits focused on environmental issues.

https://youtu.be/rZ0Stj6MWNU

1% for the Planet works to increase funding to the environment by leading a network of businesses, nonprofits, and individuals working together for a healthy planet. 1% for the Planet assists these businesses by assessing their priorities and connecting them with the most aligned nonprofit partners. All giving in the network goes directly from businesses to approved environmental nonprofits. On an annual basis, 1% for the Planet certifies donations by verifying sales data and donation receipts.

1% for the Planet members have given more than $150 million back to environmental nonprofits since 2002.

Thank you to all those responsible for this remarkable event.

Let’s all do our part to be the change that we seek in the world!

We are very grateful for the opportunity to be featured on the Dentistry Uncensored video-podcast with Dr. Howard Farran. We had an engaging exchange of ideas around the principles of Conscious Capitalism and Certified B Corporations.

Kudos to Adria, our newest Patient Care Coordinator for donating her beautiful hair to someone in need!

Adria donated a whopping 8” of her hair to Locks of Love! Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. They meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses they provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.

Adria, we think you’re beautiful inside and out!

Check out Adria’s before and after pictures.

First of all they’re great products! Benco Dental officials began searching for a better toothbrush to offer to dentists to send home with their patients. When they didn’t find it, they made their own. The family-owned company, headquartered in Jenkins Twp., already had a line of private-brand toothbrushes and wanted to make them better. A Benco Dental team and designer created a high-end line of toothbrushes, prescription toothpaste high in fluoride, floss and other products called PRO-SYS. The process took about three years.

Second, they believe, as we do, in giving back. Imagine life without a toothbrush. The consequences—disease, pain, tooth loss—are all too real for millions of people worldwide, many of them right here at home. For every PRO-SYS® Tapered or Antimicrobial toothbrush bought, they donate one to a person in need. It’s something we can all feel good about. But simply donating toothbrushes isn’t enough, so they partner with nonprofits that ensure oral healthcare education is part of the package. That’s especially important in places where toothbrushes are uncommon.

Artisan Dental and Pro-Sys products – working together to promote good oral healthcare and helping those in need. We think it’s a great fit!

We appreciate that we are an interwoven part of a larger local and global community. We are heartened by the opportunity to support organizations with owner and staff volunteer hours, free dental services, and/or ongoing financial contributions. https://artisandentalmadison.com/communitygiving/
